Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand-sized minerals or rock grains. Most sandstone is composed of quartz and/or feldspar because these are the most common minerals in the Earth’s crust. Like sand, sandstone may be any color, but the most common colors are tan, brown, yellow, red, gray and white. Various finishes to sandstone natural stone offer further depth and interest to the product, from a rustic riven top to a smooth contemporary product or even a weathered flagstone look. Furthermore the ability to stipulate random lengths (although always standard widths) of flagstones allow the finished area to shine with visual interest. With improper cleaning and sealing the floor will, overtime lose its appearance. We have devised a systematic approach of cleaning and sealing to restore floor to its original appearance.

Sandstone flooring restoration cleaning and resealing. on initial inspection it decided to use a aggressive industrial scrub brush fitted under a heavy low speed scrub machine. we use a specific deep stone cleaning product. that will clean a heavy build up of dirt and grime from sandstone flooring without causing any further damage to the stone surface. this used in conjunction with or heavy duty machine and scrub brushes ensures a clean surface every-time. once clean we then rinse the floor throughly. let dry and on this occasion finish with a impregnator sealer was used to give a sealed surface with a natural stone finish

French sandstone flooring. this was a sandstone floor in an old estate home. floor was estatemated to be over hundred years old. firstly we removed all the old grouting and replaced. repaired any damaged tiles. once this was completed we then started or stone grinding process. once the old surface was removed we followed through with or honing and finishing process. final step was to seal the floor with inpregnating sealer to leave a natural finish to the floor and be ready for another hundred years of use.

Sandstone flooring. One of the biggest issues with sandstone flooring is the roughness of the surface. On this project, the client opted for the floor to be grinded flat and leave a smooth finish to the floor. This process is quite a lengthly and labour intensive floor work as it dose involve a lot of initial grinding to flatten out the floor. once the floor is grinded down flat we then go through a further 5 stages off honing to achieve a smooth scratch free finish. the final result is a warm country house finish. this also eases the maintenance regime greatly. the beauty about this is that it only has to be done one time.
